Southwest Monsoon Brings Heavy Rainfall to Northern and Central Luzon

Issued Weather Advisory No. 18 at 11:00 a.m. on June 3, 2026, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warned of heavy rainfall due to the southwest monsoon in several provinces of Northern and Central Luzon.

According to PAGASA, Pangasinan, Zambales, and Bataan are expected to experience heavy rains from June 3 to June 4. Additional provinces, including Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Abra, Benguet, and Tarlac, may also be affected in the following days.

This heavy rainfall is being caused by the southwest monsoon, locally known as “Habagat,” which continues to bring moist air and rain-bearing clouds over western sections of Luzon. PAGASA noted that rainfall may be higher in mountainous and elevated areas.

Authorities also warned that the effects of the rainfall could worsen in areas that have already experienced significant rain in recent days. Flooding and rain-induced landslides remain possible in vulnerable communities.

PAGASA advised local disaster risk reduction and management offices to take necessary measures to protect lives and property. Residents are encouraged to monitor official weather updates and warnings as the agency continues to observe the situation.
