Feature Writing Training Strengthens Student Storytelling Skills

A Multimedia Training on Feature Writing was held on February 21, 2026, at the VM AIC Headquarters in Brgy. Sto. Cristo, Pulilan, as part of the ongoing media development initiative led by Vice Mayor Atty. Imee DJ. Cruz and facilitated by Frames Per Second Media.

The session featured Mr. Mon Karlo Mangaran of De La Salle University as the resource speaker, focusing on the fundamentals of feature writing.

During the training, participants were introduced to key concepts such as developing story angles, writing with clarity, and creating engaging narratives. The discussion highlighted how feature writing differs from straight news by placing emphasis on storytelling, depth, and human interest.

Mr. Mangaran also stressed the importance of observation, proper structure, and the use of descriptive details to make stories more compelling. He explained how writers can connect with readers by presenting real-life experiences in a relatable and meaningful way.

Students took part in guided exercises, where they organized ideas and wrote short feature pieces based on given topics. The activity allowed them to apply the concepts discussed and build confidence in their writing.

The training focused on strengthening participants’ skills in feature writing, adding to their growing knowledge in multimedia and storytelling.
