‎Magnificent Seven Etched in Philippine Sports History

‎Seven of the country’s most accomplished athletes—Mansueto “Onyok” Velasco, Ramon “El Presidente” Fernandez, Adeline Dumapong-Ancheta, Cecil Mamiit, Bea Lucero-Lhuillier, Isidro Del Prado, and the late Eduardo “Eddie” Pacheco—were formally inducted into the  during the 2026 ceremony held in Manila on June 21, in recognition of their outstanding achievements, historic victories, and decades of service in elevating Philippine sports on the international stage.

‎Dubbed the “Magnificent Seven,” the honorees represent some of the finest Filipino athletes in history: Olympic boxing silver medalist ; PBA legend and multi-time MVP ; Paralympic bronze medalist and powerlifting pioneer ; international tennis standout ; multi-sport champion ; Asian-record sprinter ; and posthumously honored all-around athlete .

‎The Philippine Sports Hall of Fame remains one of the highest honors in national sports, celebrating athletes whose careers have left a lasting legacy of excellence, perseverance, and national pride. This year’s induction highlighted the diversity of Filipino sporting greatness, spanning boxing, basketball, athletics, tennis, powerlifting, and multi-sport competition.

‎Officials emphasized that the recognition goes beyond medals and records, underscoring values of discipline, sacrifice, and inspiration for future generations. Each inductee’s journey reflects not only personal triumph but also the broader story of Philippine sports on the world stage.
