Piston's Plea to Increase Minimum Jeepney Fares

Transport Group Piston commences a legal procedure before the Land Transportation Franchising and the Regulatory Board (LTFRB), for a ₱10 increase in jeepney fares, on April 20, addressing the issue of high gasoline prices and drivers' profits.

If possible, the minimum jeepney prices would rise from ₱13 to ₱23

According to Piston, the request was prompted by the high price of diesel and operational costs, with drivers allegedly losing ₱1,700 to ₱3,000 per day.

Netizens quickly responded to that action, indicating that the increase was too high for a consumer and stating that it's a heavy price for a minimum-wage earner.

Piston was established to arrange a nationwide transportation sit-in on April 21 to condemn a legal action.

The petition was only filed for a day, and the legal procedure and hearings were underway and awaiting approval.
