Power Outage expected in Bulacan

As of today, a power outage is expected in Bulacan on May 15, from 3:00pm to 10:00pm due to the red alert status declared by the National Grid Coordination of the Philippines (NGCP).

According to Meralco, areas like Balagtas, Baliwag City, Bocaue, the City of San Jose del Monte, Marilao, Pulilan, San Ildefonso, and Santa Maria are likely to be affected.

When the power supply is unable to fulfill demand or the grid's regulatory requirements, a Red Alert by the NGCP is the highest level of issue, indicating that power supply is insufficient to meet demand and transmission grid requirements, likely causing rotational brownouts that are set off in order to prevent the system from collapsing; distribution firms like Meralco use it as a signal to start periodically reducing electricity to specific locations.

The operational margin is too little to withstand an unexpected plant trip, as indicated by the yellow alarms.

Authorities advised citizens to be ready for the upcoming blackout.
