Monstrous Pump: Oil Price Hike Hits Consumers Hard

Every day feels like you're in an endless battle; in order to survive, you must work and face reality just to get the life you wanted for yourself and your family. Yet, every battle has its own crisis we need to face. As the war between the United States and Iran sparks, many people are affected, even the products in Iran, especially gasoline, which is the main source for many countries like the Philippines.

According to Philippine Star News, the country was almost out of gasoline, and the gas price must increase. Not long after, the changes quickly spread through the country, squeezing every consumer with how fast the oil hikes from ₱14 to ₱17 for gasoline and ₱19.30 to ₱22.30 for diesel per liter.

Jeepney and tricycle drivers are mostly hit hard by the changes; they barely earn money that cannot even cover a family's expenses. Based on the news, Jeepney drivers only earn ₱200 to ₱300 every day, which is equal to the oil price today.

Imagine working hard for a full day just to survive, yet the fruit of it was not even enough to give your family what they need. Government should plan a strategic way to cross the crisis; they shouldn't just focus on one issue. It is a must to quickly take action because many people are suffering, mostly drivers that needed money.

And the fact that life gets hard every day, we can't just wait and rely on the government; we need to step up on our own feet and help ourselves to cross this battle. Just like the quote that Ditto Sarmiento said, "Kung hindi tayo kikibo, sino ang kikibo? Kung hindi tayo kikilos, sino ang kikilos? Kung hindi ngayon, kailan?" reality hits them very hard, but in the end, the only key is to help ourselves and the others just to survive.
