Pax silica: progress should not cost the downfall of nature

Philippines is very rich in natural resources, and many Filipinos rely on them. From prosperous rice fields to bountiful bodies of water, where farmers and fishermen get our products. But the real question is: is it worth selling for?

‎Pax Silica is a company that produces silica sand, which we can use in making glass, solar panels, and some gadgets like computer chips that can enhance the use of artificial intelligence and other computer-based work.

‎In addition, it will help in terms of employment opportunities for local communities and can contribute to economic growth and development through infrastructure and business activity.

‎Though we can benefit from it, it might also be a cause of soil erosion and  destruction of many habitats near that area if it's not properly managed. It can also affect the air quality because of the dust coming from the mining activities.

‎To prevent any casualties, mining companies in the Philippines must follow environmental laws and comply with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB).

‎In closing, Pax Silica can contribute to the country's mining and production of silica. With proper management and strict adherence to rules, progress can be possible without sacrificing the health of our nature.
