After the Hantavirus outbreak, 17 Filipino crew members of the vessel MV Hondius, which was hit during the virus outbreak, were placed under quarantine in the Netherlands after being evacuated from Spain’s Canary Islands on Tuesday, May 12.

According to the PhilStar, the group that includes six Filipinos landed at Eindhoven Airport at 1 a.m. local time on a Dutch government-arranged evacuation flight from Tenerife.

They all went through medical tests immediately before moving through designated local facilities to begin their quarantine.

As stated by the official website, they are the second batch of Filipino Hondius crew to be discharged, while four more arrived on May 10 and are also in quarantine; then another 17 are expected to reach Rotterdam aboard the Hondius itself by Sunday evening, May 17, and will likewise be quarantined, with the total of 38 Filipinos waiting out isolation in the Netherlands before they can go back.
