The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) continues to monitor a Low Pressure Area (LPA 05a) that’s unlikely to become a tropical depression within the next 24 hours, while the Tropical Storm ”HAGUPIT” (formerly LPA 05b) is under formal observation outside the PAR, 2:00am this Thursday.

Earlier, the LPA was estimated based on all available data at 120 km Southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur (7.7°N, 127.2°E). Easterlies affecting Luzon and Visayas.

According to the latest forecast of PAGASA, the LPA remained 120 kilometers Southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao Del Sur.

As reported, HAGUPIT was moving westward over the Philippine Sea, located about 1,995 km east of Northeastern Mindanao.

HAGUPIT will carry on moving westward in the next 6 hours, then turn west-northwestward for the remainder of the forecast period. It may enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) between Saturday (09 May) evening and Sunday (10 May) morning, and will be given the local name CALOY.

PAGASA mentioned that the forecast contingencies will remain due to its distance from the country.
